Mermaids, chimeras, sea nymphs and many, many other creatures are hidden in the sea and at the seaside. Half-fish, half-human. Half-bird, half-reptile. Or maybe a fish with legs and red slippers put on? A mathematician-octopus? Or maybe a constantly overfed seagull? Possible or imposeable?
